1. Connection & Recognition Issues

Q1. Wired Connection

PD200X supports USB or XLR wired connections. USB can connect to computers, smartphones, or tablets, while XLR only works with audio interfaces.

Q2. How to Use with a Computer

Connect the microphone's Type-C port to the computer's USB port using a data cable. Then, in the computer's audio settings, select "PD200X Podcast Microphone" as the input and output device. Connect monitoring headphones to the microphone.

Q3. How to Use with a Smartphone

  • Android phones: Connect the microphone's USB port to the phone's Type-C port. Open any recording app to start recording after connection. Some phones require enabling OTG function in settings. For detailed steps: How to Connect a USB Microphone to a Smartphone
  • iPhone: iPhone 15 and above models: Directly connect the microphone's USB port to the phone's Type-C port. iPhone 14 and below models: Use a Lightning-to-USB adapter to connect the microphone and phone. Open any recording app to start recording after connection.

Q4. What to Do If the Microphone Isn't Recognized by Computer/Phone

  • Computer: Check if the PD200X device appears in the computer's audio settings. If not, replace the data cable and re-plug. If the issue persists, try reinstalling the microphone driver. For detailed steps: Windows Computer Fails to Recognize Audio Interface or Microphone - Maono
  • Phone: Check if the microphone's indicator light is on. If not, try replacing the USB data cable or verifying that the phone's OTG function is enabled.

Q5. Microphone Connected but No Sound on Computer

Ensure the microphone is properly connected to the computer's USB port (prefer rear USB ports on the host to avoid insufficient power supply).
Go to the computer's "More sound settings", set PD200X as the default recording device. Ensure the recording volume is not muted and adjusted to an appropriate level, disable exclusive mode, and enable microphone privacy permissions for apps.

2. Function & Parameter Explanations

Q6. What's the Role of Audio Parameters (Sample Rate/Bit Depth)

Q8. Differences Between PD200X USB Mode and XLR Mode

  • USB Mode: Plug-and-play, no additional equipment required. Suitable for connecting to computers, tablets, smartphones for live streaming, voice chat, and basic recording. Supports software-controlled volume and monitoring, with all microphone functions available.
  • XLR Mode: Requires an external audio interface or mixer. Provides more stable audio signal transmission, ideal for professional studios and stage performances with superior sound quality. It is normal for the microphone's indicator light to turn off and buttons to become inactive in this mode.

3. Software & Device Compatibility

Q9. How to Use Custom EQ Function

Open the Maono Link software and find "Equalizer" in the "Scenes" section.
The software offers preset modes (e.g., Original Sound, Podcast, Gaming, Singing) for direct use.
Click "New" to manually adjust the 5-band equalizer (frequency range: 20Hz-20kHz) to enhance bass, reduce noise, etc., as needed.
Click "Save" after adjustment to create a custom preset.

Q10. Is 48V Phantom Power Required?

No. PD200X is a dynamic microphone that does not require external 48V phantom power. It can be used directly by connecting to devices.

Q11. How to Use AI Noise Reduction? AI Noise Reduction Not Working

Before using AI noise reduction, select "Maono AI Microphone" as the audio input device in the computer's audio settings.
Open the Maono Link software, find the "AI Settings" module in the upper right corner, and enable "AI Noise Reduction" and "Monitoring".
If the function still doesn't work after correct settings, close and restart the software.

Q12. How to Adjust the Microphone's Light Effects?

Click "Lighting" in the Maono Link software to adjust RGB light effects in real time. There are 9 light effects available, all supporting brightness adjustment. The lighting adjustment function is also available in the mobile version of Maono Link with the same operation logic. The computer version is used as a demonstration here.

Q13. Which Operating Systems Are Supported by the Desktop Maono Link Software?

  • Windows: Windows 10 (version 1809 or later), Windows 11 (32/64-bit)
  • Mac: macOS 13.5 or later

Q14. How to Fix Maono Link Connection Failure

Check the connection of the audio cable to the computer, unplug it and reconnect it.
Check if the microphone works properly on the computer.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact us via email: support@maono.com

4. Mode Differences & Troubleshooting

Q15. Is It Normal That Knobs and Lights Don't Respond in XLR Mode?

Yes. XLR mode is designed to work with professional external equipment (e.g., mixers, audio interfaces). In this mode, the microphone's volume adjustment and light display are controlled by the external device (audio interface), so the built-in knobs and lights are disabled. In USB mode, the knobs can adjust volume/monitoring, and the lights display the working status normally.

Q16. How to Resolve Microphone Noise or Interference?

  • Current noise ("hissing sound"): Check if the microphone is too close to strong electromagnetic devices (e.g., routers, induction cookers). Maintain a distance of at least 1 meter. Replace the USB data cable or port to eliminate line interference.
  • Ambient noise ("buzzing sound"): Enable the noise reduction function on the microphone or in the software. Use a windscreen to reduce airflow noise. Use in a quiet environment to avoid background noise interference.

5. Power Supply Issues

Q17. Microphone Disconnects Frequently When Connected via USB?

Avoid using excessively long USB extension cables (recommended length: no more than 3 meters) as they may cause voltage loss.
For laptop users, prioritize USB ports while the laptop is connected to a charger to avoid power limitations during battery operation.
Use a USB hub with independent power supply to enhance power stability.

6. Compatibility Issues

Q18. Unable to Recognize in Professional Software (e.g., Adobe Audition/Logic Pro) After Connecting to Computer?

Verify that the Windows/Mac system version meets the requirements (Windows 10 1803/macOS 10.13 or later). Older versions may have driver compatibility issues.
Check if PD200X is recognized in the system's audio settings. If not, re-plug the microphone and restart the software. Select PD200X as the audio input device in the software's audio settings.
Update the microphone's firmware to the latest version via Maono Link. Download link: Maono App Download

7. Function Operation & Software Usage Issues

Q19. Sound Distortion Due to Excessive Microphone Gain?

Reduce the "Microphone Gain" slider in the Maono Link software (recommended initial value: 50-65).
For XLR mode, adjust the gain via the external mixer's knob to avoid input signal overload.
Maintain an appropriate distance between the microphone and sound source (no closer than about one fist, recommended: 10-20cm). Too close may cause clipping distortion.

Q20. Maono Link Software Fails to Download/Open or Crashes Frequently?

Check if the computer has the correct system version (Windows & Mac).
When uninstalling the software, use the Uninstall program in the installation directory for a complete removal. Reinstall the latest version after uninstallation.
It is recommended to use the default installation path (C drive).

8. Device Maintenance Issues

Q21. How to Clean Dust or Debris on the Microphone Capsule?

Turn off the microphone power. Use a dry, soft brush to gently remove dust from the capsule surface.
Wipe the metal mesh with a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of anhydrous alcohol (semi-dry state). Use the microphone only after the alcohol has evaporated to prevent liquid from seeping inside.
Store the microphone in a dustproof bag when not in use for a long time to avoid moisture or dust accumulation.
