1.Connection & Recognition Issues

Q1. Wired Connection

The PD100 Gen2 supports USB or XLR wired connection.
  • USB: Can connect to computers, mobile phones or tablets.
  • XLR: Only supports connection to audio interfaces.

Q2. How to Connect to a Computer

Connect the microphone’s Type‑C port to the computer’s USB port using a data cable.
In the computer’s audio settings, select Maono PD100 Mic as the input/output device.
Connect your monitoring headphone to the microphone.

Q3. How to Connect to a Mobile Phone

  • Android: Connect the microphone’s USB port to the phone’s Type‑C port. Open a recording APP to start recording. Some phones require enabling OTG in Settings.
  • iPhone:
    • iPhone 15 or newer: Directly connect the microphone’s USB port to the phone’s Type‑C port.
    • iPhone 14 or older: Use a Lightning‑to‑USB adapter to connect the microphone and phone.
      Open a recording APP to start recording.

Q4. Computer/Phone Not Recognizing the Microphone

  • Computer: Check if PD100 Gen2 appears in audio settings. If not, replace the cable and reconnect. If the issue continues, reinstall the microphone driver.
  • Phone: Check if the microphone light is on. If not, replace the USB cable or verify that OTG is enabled.

Q5. Microphone Connected but No Sound on Computer

Ensure the microphone is properly connected (use the rear USB port of the desktop to avoid insufficient power).
Go to Sound settings → More sound settings:
  • Set PD100 Gen2 as the default recording device.
  • Unmute recording volume and set a proper level.
  • Disable exclusive mode.
  • Enable microphone privacy permissions.
  • Check that the microphone itself is not muted.

Q6. What Do Audio Parameters (Sample Rate / Bit Depth) Do?

The PD100 Gen2 supports 24‑bit / 192kHz audio output, meeting studio‑grade standards and ensuring clear, detailed recording.

Q8. Difference Between USB Mode and XLR Mode

  • USB Mode
Plug‑and‑play, no extra equipment needed.
Suitable for computers, tablets, phones, used for live streaming, voice chat, basic recording.
Supports software volume & monitoring control; all mic functions work normally.
  • XLR Mode
Requires an external audio interface or mixer for more stable transmission.
Suitable for professional studios, stage performances, with better sound quality.
The microphone’s lights and buttons will be disabled — this is normal.

3. Software & Device Support

Q9. How to Use Custom EQ

Open Maono Link and go to Scenes → EQ.
  • Use built‑in presets: Original, Recording, Podcast, Livestream.
  • Click New to manually adjust the 5‑band EQ (20Hz–20kHz) to boost bass, reduce noise, etc.
  • Click Save to create your own preset.

Q10. Is 48V Phantom Power Required?

No.
The PD100 Gen2 is a dynamic microphone and does not need 48V phantom power. Simply connect it to a device.

Q11. How to Use Maono Link? Supported OS for Desktop Maono Link

The PD100 Gen2 supports the desktop version of Maono Link.
  • Windows: Windows 10 1809 or later, Windows 11 (32/64‑bit)
  • Mac: macOS 13.5 or later

4. Mode Differences & Troubleshooting

Q12. Knob Not Working in XLR Mode? What Do the Light Colors Mean?

It is normal.
In XLR mode, gain is controlled by external devices (mixer/audio interface), so the microphone knob is disabled. The knob works for gain adjustment in USB mode.
  • Blue light: Normal operation
  • Red light: Muted

Q13. How to Fix Microphone Noise / Interference

  • Electrical hiss: Keep at least 1 meter away from routers, induction cookers and other strong electromagnetic devices. Change the USB cable or port.
  • Background buzz: Enable noise reduction on the mic or in the software; use a windscreen; record in a quiet environment.

5. Power Supply Issues

Q14. Frequent Disconnection When Using USB

  • Avoid long USB extension cables (recommended ≤ 3 meters) to prevent voltage drop.
  • For laptops, use USB ports while charging to avoid power limits on battery.
  • Use a self‑powered USB hub for stable power.

6. Compatibility Issues

Q15. Not Recognized in Adobe Audition / Logic Pro

  • Check system version: Windows 10 1803 / macOS 13.5 or later is required. Older systems may have driver conflicts.
  • Confirm PD100 Gen2 is detected in system audio settings. Reconnect and restart the software if needed.
  • Select PD100 Gen2 as the audio input device in the software.
  • Update the microphone firmware in Maono Link.

7. Function & Software Usage Issues

Q16. Sound Distortion from Too High Gain

  • Lower gain using the knob; recommended starting level: 50%.
  • In XLR mode, adjust gain on the external mixer to avoid overload.
  • Keep a 10–20cm distance from the sound source (about one fist away) to prevent popping and distortion.

Q17. Maono Link Won’t Download / Open / Crashes

  • Verify your computer OS meets the requirements.
  • Uninstall completely using the Uninstall tool in the installation folder, then reinstall the latest version.
  • Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall to avoid blocking.
  • Use the default installation path (C: drive).

8. Device Maintenance

Q18. How to Clean the Microphone Capsule

  • Disconnect power. Gently brush dust off the capsule with a soft dry brush.
  • Wipe the metal grille with a cotton swab lightly dampened with anhydrous alcohol (semi‑dry). Wait for alcohol to evaporate before use.
  • Store in a dust‑proof bag when not in use for long periods to avoid moisture and dust buildup.
