What Microphones Can Be Mounted on the Boom Arm

Download

All of our boom arm models currently on the market, including B01, BA91, BA37, and BA92, are compatible with both 3/8-inch and 5/8-inch thread standards, meeting the installation needs of most users across a wide range of use cases.

The 3/8-inch and 5/8-inch thread sizes are the most widely adopted and universally recognized standards in the audio industry. These two specifications have long been used across studio equipment, live streaming setups, and both professional and consumer-grade microphones, forming a highly standardized ecosystem. Whether it is a dynamic microphone, a condenser microphone, or accessories such as shock mounts and desktop stands, most devices are designed to support one or both of these thread types.

In practical applications, the 5/8-inch thread is more commonly found in professional-grade microphones and their associated mounting systems, such as those used in recording studios and broadcast environments. In contrast, the 3/8-inch thread is widely used in desktop stands, camera accessories, and lightweight equipment. By supporting both thread sizes (or including adapters), boom arms can seamlessly accommodate different devices, significantly reducing compatibility barriers for users.

For this reason, 3/8-inch and 5/8-inch threads can be considered the “universal language” of microphone mounting systems. As long as a device features a standard threaded connection, it can typically be mounted directly or adapted with a simple converter. This ensures that users do not need to worry about compatibility when upgrading or switching microphones, offering excellent flexibility and long-term usability.

It is worth noting that a small number of microphones with non-standard mounting designs may require additional adapters or dedicated mounting solutions. It is recommended to verify the thread specification before purchase or installation to ensure secure and stable use.
