Product Overview

The PD500W microphone is Maono's new-generation wireless desktop microphone. It supports dual-microphone usage, making it an ideal solution for two-person podcasts or live streams. Two creators can each hold one microphone and connect to the live streaming platform synchronously through a single receiver without the need for an external sound card, simplifying the setup process for your creative scenes.

 


 

Product Functions

1.  Device Switching

When two microphones are connected simultaneously, tap the top tab bar to switch between the microphones you want to configure.

2.  Battery Level Display

The current battery level of the microphones is displayed at the top of the app interface. When the battery is low, the microphone indicator light will flash rapidly. Please recharge the microphones in a timely manner.

3.  Basics

3.1 Quick Control

Mute Switch: Quickly mute or unmute the microphone.

Mute Lock Switch: When enabled, the mute touch key on the microphone light strip will be disabled to prevent accidental touches.

3.2 Microphone Gain

The microphone supports both manual and automatic gain adjustment modes to meet different usage requirements.

● Manual Gain: Drag the slider to adjust the microphone input gain, with an adjustable range from -18dB to +18dB.

● Automatic Gain Control (AGC): When auto gain is enabled, it automatically adjusts the microphone gain to ensure balanced sound output and prevent low volume or overload distortion. 

⚠️Note: Enabling Automatic Gain Control will affect the performance of the compressor and limiter, so these two functions will be temporarily disabled.

3.3 Noise Cancellation

The PD500W supports two noise reduction modes: Preset Noise Reduction and Custom Noise Reduction.

● Preset Noise Cancellation: Offers three noise reduction levels—Slight, Moderate, and Aggressive—to adapt to different noisy environments.

● Custom Noise Cncellation: If the preset modes do not meet your needs, you can manually adjust the noise reduction level in Custom Noise Reduction mode, with an adjustable range from 0 to 40.

3.4 Internal Recording

The internal recording function effectively prevents material loss caused by wireless interference or camera malfunctions. You can enable or disable this function at any time as needed. The internal recording file is mono; stereo and safety track are not supported.

⚠️Note: Internal recording cannot be enabled when the remaining recording time of the microphone is less than 30 minutes. Please export the audio files first and then perform the formatting operation.

Dual Mic Record

When two PD500W microphones are connected simultaneously, single-mic or dual-mic recording modes are available.

Single-mic mode only records the active microphone. Select dual-mic recording for synchronous internal recording of both mics, and both units will start capturing audio at the same time.

Bit Depth

Set the audio Bit depth for microphone internal recording. Two options are supported: 24 Bit and 32-Bit Float.

● 24 Bit: Standard audio Bit depth, suitable for daily recording needs.

● 32 Bit Float: Preserves more complete audio information, expanding the scope for post-audio processing.

⚠️Note: Enabling 32 Bit Float Bit depth will increase the file size, thus shortening the total recording duration of the microphone.

File Type

Select the file type for saved internal recordings, with two options available:

● Original File: Raw audio files without any algorithmic processing, retaining the complete original recording information.

● Processed File: Audio files optimized by algorithms, such as noise reduction and scene sound effect enhancement. (Processed files cannot be saved at 32-bit float bit depth; only original files are available for saving.)

⚠️Note: The Bit depth and file type cannot be modified while internal recording is enable.

Internal Recording Settings

● Startup Auto Recording: When enabled, the mic will automatically start recording upon powering on.

● Low Power Auto Recording: When enabled, the mic will automatically start recording when the RX battery level drops to 10%, ensuring critical audio material is not lost.

● Loop Recording: When enabled, the device will automatically overwrite the earliest recorded files when the mic storage space is full, continuously saving the latest audio content.

File Export

Connect the microphone to your computer or mobile device via a USB cable. Press and hold the internal recording button on the microphone for 5 seconds to enter USB drive mode (the microphone light strip will turn orange), then you can export audio files.

USB drive mode can be exited by re-plugging the device, restarting the unit, or pressing and holding the internal recording button for another 5 seconds.

⚠️Notes: USB drive mode cannot be activated during internal recording. You must manually stop internal recording first, then enter USB drive mode by either holding the mic recording button for 5 seconds or tapping the USB Mode button in the software.

Storage Space

With 24Bit Bit depth, the device supports up to 55.3 hours of recording. With 32-Bit Float Bit depth, the supported recording duration is 45.2 hours.To format the microphone's storage space, tap the "Format" button in the upper right corner of the interface.

3.5 De-Esser

Suppress harsh vocal sibilants (/s/, /ʃ/ and other hissing sounds), reduce piercing high-frequency harshness without impairing the overall timbre. For more precise adjustments, tap the "More" icon to enter the advanced settings window.

3.6 Compressor & Limiter

Basic compressor and limiter functions are provided. In most cases, adjusting the outer threshold will yield ideal results. For more precise adjustments, tap the "More" icon to enter the advanced settings window, where you can modify parameters such as compression ratio, limiting ratio, attack time, release time, and threshold.

3.7 Electronic Pop Filter

Enabling the electronic pop filter function helps reduce the impact of plosive sounds such as "p" and "b", aspirated sounds such as "t", "k", and "h", and high-speed airflow noise caused by close-distance recording on the audio quality.

3.8 Microphone Monitoring

The PD500W is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone monitoring jack for real-time microphone monitoring, and supports multi-channel sound mixing to meet your needs from solo creation to multi-device collaboration.

 

Headphone Volume

Adjust the monitoring output volume of the current microphone with one click.

Monitoring Output

Check the audio sources you want to monitor through the current microphone. You can flexibly configure the monitoring output based on different creative scenarios. After checking the corresponding device option, the sound from that device will be output through the headphones.

● Current Microphone (e.g., PD500W-1): Monitor your own voice.

● Computer: Monitor background music, game audio, or call sounds.

● Other Microphones (e.g., PD500W-2): Monitor your partner's voice.

3.9 Mic Level Indicator

You can toggle the microphone level switch on or off. When off, the microphone stops showing the level indicator in real time.

3.9 General Functions

Microphone Identification

When Microphone Identification is enabled, the indicator light of Mic1 will turn purple and Mic2 will turn cyan when adjusting the microphone gain. Meanwhile, tapping the icon of a microphone will trigger two quick flashes on its identification indicator light for fast recognition of the corresponding mic.

4.  Scenes

The software includes four preset scenes: ​​Original​​, Stream, Recording and ​​Podcast. Each scene includes optimized audio presets tailored to specific use cases. Select the scene that best matches your activity for an optimized audio experience. Clicking on any scene will automatically load its preset sound configuration.

 

4.1 Sound configurations

Preset Sound Effects: Preset sound configurations cannot be modified. If the effects do not meet your expectations, click the "Copy" button to create a a fully customizable copy of the current configuration. This new configuration can then be tuned on-site.

Custom Sound Effects: Under each scene, you can create multiple custom sound configurations.

4.2 Create New

You can create a new custom sound configuration by clicking the "+" button in the menu bar below the scene.

4.3 Deletion and Editing

The "More" menu supports the export and deletion of audio effect configurations.

Hover the mouse over a custom audio effect box, and the Delete and Edit buttons will appear.

Delete: Click "Delete" to directly remove the current audio effect configuration.

Edit: Click "Edit" to open a pop-up window for adjusting the PEQ tuning of the current configuration.

4.4 EQ Adjustment

Each audio effect configuration includes a graphical EQ tuning feature, comprising an HPF (High-Pass Filter), an LPF (Low-Pass Filter), and 10 bands. By dragging a band, you can directly boost or attenuate the gain at a specific frequency to quickly optimize the microphone's sound.

You can click on a band or locate it in the parameter panel below to modify its filter type, gain, frequency, and Q value.

When adjusting the EQ, you can monitor in real-time to hear the effect of the changes. Right-click on an EQ curve to perform actions such as copying, exporting, creating a new curve, or deleting it.

The EQ Presets panel located in the bottom-right corner of the window provides menu options to create new or import audio effect configurations. Furthermore, right-clicking on any existing preset allows you to modify its curve appearance (thickness and color), rename it, or perform actions like copying and exporting the curve.

You can export your own configurations to share with friends, or import sound effect files tuned for the PD500W by others. In the future, the official website will offer more scene sound effects for download, which can be used immediately with one-click import after downloading.

5.  Channel Settings

● Mono: Merges audio signals into a single channel, with identical audio output from both left and right channels.

● Stereo: When two microphones are connected to the receiver (RX), the left and right channels will output independent audio tracks from each microphone respectively.

● Safety Track: Outputs two audio files through left and right channels. The left channel is the original volume, while the right channel is a backup track with 9dB attenuation.

⚠️ Note: Stereo and safety track configurations are unavailable when the microphone is connected via USB.

6.  Recording

The default recording format is 48kHz/16Bit, PCM format audio, and audio recorded can be exported to your destination folder.
